Private web searches with a twist.
StartPage's mission is to provide private searching with a twist: Instead of building their own private search engine like DuckDuckGo, StartPage enables a "privacy layer" over Google search results. This means you get the typical results you'd receive from Google, but without your data actually reaching Google's servers. This can be a nice middle-ground for users who have grown accustomed to Google's results, but don't want to sacrifice their user privacy to get them.
Users also have the ability to open individual search results with StartPage's built-in proxy for enhanced anonymity. With free apps available for iOS and Android, they're definitely worth a shot in your quest for more private web searching.

StartPage is basic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Don't let the lack of features stop you from trying them.
The StartPage experience is fairly quick and smooth- even when using their built-in proxy.
Unfortunately, StartPage's design is out of date and feels clunky.
